About me
I'm a British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) accredited and registered counsellor / psychotherapist. I have been working therapeutically with people in various settings for 25 years (initially through my roles in educational settings, community projects and in home office secure accommodation).
During the mid-1990s I became increasingly interested in deeper psychological ways of working and, in 1996, I began to undertake various certificated qualifications in counselling, therapy, psychology and supervision.
These include:
As a counsellor / psychotherapist, coach and supervisor I have worked in numerous settings including:
My own experience of personal therapy was through a twice weekly Jungian analysis and this has helped to inform my work and remind me what it feels like to be in the opposite chair. Although psychodynamically trained, I draw on many therapeutic models within psychodynamic, humanistic and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) frameworks. I currently have considerable interest in using self-determination theory (SDT) as a way to help facilitate change.
