About me

I'm a British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) accredited and registered counsellor / psychotherapist. I have been working therapeutically with people in various settings for more than twenty years (initially through my roles in educational settings, community projects and in home office secure accommodation).

During the mid-1990s I became increasingly interested in deeper psychological ways of working and, in 1996, I began to undertake various certificated qualifications in counselling, therapy, psychology and supervision.

These include:

  • Advanced diploma in therapeutic counselling (University of Cambridge)
  • Developmental psychology (Open University)
  • Master's level Postgraduate diploma in counselling (University of Cambridge)
  • Certificate in integrative supervision (Institute for Indivdual Psychology)
  • Diploma in hypnotherapy (Advanced Changework)

As a counsellor / psychotherapist mentor and supervisor I have worked in numerous settings including:

  • psychotherapy at Psychological Treatments Services, Addenbrooke's Hospital
  • counselling students at the University of Cambridge
  • groupwork with male and female young offenders
  • group facilitation with young women in severe welfare need
  • group supervision for charitable trusts.

My own experience of personal therapy was through a twice weekly Jungian analysis and this has helped to inform my work and remind me what it feels like to be in the opposite chair. Although psychodynamically trained, I currently professionally draw on many therapeutic models within psychodynamic, humanistic and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) frameworks.
